I have finished converting and uploading the Shadow Magazine stories for 1946, 1947 and 1948 to this web site. After 1948, the magazine was published on a very irregular basis, so I have only a few more to be converted.
I charged the battery for the Plymouth overnight, and the car started up fine yesterday. I drove it into the garage, put it up on jack stands and checked out my problem with no brakes. The brakes are definitely connected, but I get no resistance when I press the brake pedal, so I think I need a new master cylinder. I will order one and will work on rebuilding the carburetor while I’m waiting for the master cylinder.
In theory, I’ve been a big fan of Lulu.com, a web site that helps people publish books that are not wanted by standard publishers. I have not had an opportunity to sample their product until yesterday, though.
An acquaintance of mine, Jeff Duntemann, used to be in the publishing business running a company called the Coriolis Group. That crashed and burned because of market realities, but he still wants to get his stuff out there for others. He is a big electronics fan and was an avid reader of Popular Electronics back in the day. He especially liked a series run in PE called Carl & Jerry. He decided that they should be preserved for the world, so he got permission from the copyright holder and is publishing those stories in five volumes using Lulu. So far, he has finished Volume One and Volume Two.
I ordered these two books, and they came yesterday. I am impressed with the quality of Lulu’s binding work, and I think this is a good way for anyone with something important to say, to get it into print.
