I went to two car shows on Saturday, and showed my car at both of them. That was a lot of work, so I declined to go to a third show on Sunday. I did take pictures of both the shows I attended and got some pix from the other show.

There is a cruise planned for tonight over to The Snake Pit in Kellogg, ID, but I think I will pass on that one.

I took my '52 Plymouth to the Flames of The Spirit Show & Shine car show on Saturday. I was there from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm and I really enjoyed the show. It is a smaller show, so you talk to people who are really interested in the cars. After a wet start, the weather cooperated with clouds and temps in the 70's. All in all, it was a fun show.

I won a door prize at the show of $20 in lottery tickets. After scratching them, I ended up with $12 and two more tickets. I haven't cashed them in yet, so I don't know if the extra tickets are winners.

I have finished backing up the 24 cassettes of the audiobook The Plains of Passage to hard disk. All that I have left to back up is a few extraneous cassettes of music. Since those are regular music albums, they are not long and I can do them at any time.

The replacement U-joints for my '49 Plymouth arrived on Friday and I picked them up from the Post Office on Monday. After I gave them to the mechanic, he discovered that the driveshaft also needs to be replaced. The drive line is a smaller bar enclosed in the larger metal tube of the drive shaft, which is welded closed on both ends. When you bang on the side of the tube with a rubber hammer, it 'clunks'. That's an indication that the drive line is broken. I have two alternatives: get another drive shaft from somewhere or cut open the tube and weld up the old drive line, then weld it all back together.

I am currently looking for a drive shaft. The wrecking yard just north of here has a '47 Plymouth and a '51 Chrysler, but both of them are 4-door cars, so the drive shaft is too long in them for my 2-door '52. I will continue the search on the Internet today. In the meantime, I will ask the car club members if they know anyone who can do drive shaft work like I need done.

I sometimes pity my father and sister, since they live in Lake Havasu City, AZ in the summer. This summer, the temperatures here are nearly equivalent to there, though. We have been in the 90's and low 100's here for quite a while and there is no relief in site. Estimated 94° F today and 97° F tomorrow. Last Saturday we were above 100° F.

I am still doing stuff on the '49 Plymouth. On Monday, I took it down to an automotive shop to have them look at the drive train. I suspected that the U-joints were bad, and I was right. I have ordered replacements from oldmoparts.com. Since I don't have the tools to install them myself, I will have the automotive shop do that.
